Purpose of the Position:

The incumbent is responsible for providing technical support to the Business Solutions Unit.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head of Unit within the Clients & Projects Division and in close collaboration with the CPB team.

The incumbent will:

• Assist in responding to queries from users on applications currently implemented
• Install, configure, maintain (environment refreshes, application of patches, etc.) and support the application technology stack (web servers, application servers, database servers, orchestrators, web services, etc.) in the application environments managed by ICC
• Assist with the implementation of backup, recovery, disaster recovery and application/database monitoring procedures, operational and change management procedures
• Assist in the evaluation, configuration and installation of new releases in accordance with established standards/SOPs
• Assist in database structure changes required during system upgrades
• Provide application support (incident, request fulfilment, problem, and change/release), ensuring appropriate logging and tracking of resolution as per established procedures
• Adopt customer service excellence principles when dealing with users/customers
• Produce and keep up-to-date technical documentation and system reports as required
• Assist in defining proper internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine support activities
• Provide standby and on-call support, and work in shifts as part of ICC’s extended service coverage scheme, if and when required
• Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

• At least five (5) years of experience in information technology or related area, including at least three years (3) in operating and maintaining enterprise applications and databases
• Minimum of three years of experience administering and configuring applications based on LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) stack
• Minimum of one year of experience administering and configuring applications based on .NET/IIS/MS SQL Server stack
• Good working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Good working knowledge of MySQL
• Good working knowledge of Apache HTTP Server
• Good working knowledge of Docker Containers
• Good working knowledge of MongoDB
• Good working knowledge of JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7
• Basic knowledge of MS Windows Server 2008 and later, MS SQL Server 2008 and later, Internet Information Services
• Basic knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
• Familiarity with Local and Wide Area Network concepts
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team of diverse skills

Desirable:

• Experience in drafting technical documentation
• Knowledge of HP Service Manager and/or HP uCMDB
• Knowledge of MS SCOM and/or PowerShell

Education:

Essential:

•  Graduation from secondary school supplemented by training in IT, preferably with diploma

Desirable:

• ITIL certification

Languages:

• Expert knowledge of English is required
• Knowledge of other UN working language(s) is desirable

Eligibility:

This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate): EUR 38,299.
