UNICC Continuous Security Improvement Suite (CSI)
UNICC has recently developed a set of solutions to improve its information security management capabilities provided to its United Nations Partner Organizations, to meet the needs of the UN’s cyber security strategic goals concerning growing cyber threats. Several of the solutions have fully implemented solutions, while others are in pilot stage, all with measurable results or early findings.
The UNICC Continuous Security Improvement Suite (CSI) project includes 1) One ICTbox, a rapidly deployable modular infrastructure for UN field offices with built-in security controls, 2) Common Secure, a cyber security information sharing/threat analysis community network, 3) Common Connect, a common trust for UN Agencies to collaborate and share information assets, and 4) Information Security Governance and Operations (UNICC CISO-sharing, IS advisory support and operational solutions for smaller UN Agencies to implement and manage ISMS standards and processes.
With growing cyber security threats worldwide and decreasing ICT budgets in many UN Agencies, Partners requested a new approach, new tools and new processes to support flexible arrangements by the development of a cyber security knowledge hub at UNICC, with its expert, certified staff and 45 years of experience working within the United Nations landscape, with its particular privileges and immunities. As a result, the UNICC CSI project was born.

IDG’s CSO is the premier content and community resource for security decision-makers leading “business risk management” efforts within their organization. For more than a decade, CSO’s award-winning web site (CSOonline.com), executive conferences, strategic marketing services and research have equipped security decision-makers to mitigate both IT and corporate/physical risk for their organizations and provided opportunities for security vendors looking to reach this audience. To assist CSOs in educating their organizations’ employees on corporate and personal security practices, CSO also produces the quarterly newsletter Security Smart. CSO is published by IDG Enterprise, a subsidiary of IDG. Company information is available at www.idgenterprise.com.
