Position Description

Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of the position is to provide support in relation to existing Business Intelligence and Reporting Services implementations to UNICC and its partner and clients.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head, Data and Analytics Unit (DDA) within the Digital Delivery Division (DD) and in close collaboration with the Data and Analytics team. The incumbent could be requested to do any others tasks of similar level in related fields.

  • Participate in the definition of the business needs and implement the technical data management changes as required with the UNICC Data and Analytics team and UNICC internal focal point
  • Monitor and ensure optimal running of the data applications built and/or supported by the UNICC Data and Analytics team
  • Participate in regular client meetings to support the design and development of data-related technical solutions
  • Document change requests / maintain ticketing system up to date with a view to improve data flows and data quality
  • Resolve issues and address clients requests in an effective manner in close collaboration with the data team
  • Assist in the design and development of Analysis Services OLAP Cubes and Tabular Views
  • Interact with the Power BI report designers to implement data changes or troubleshoot reporting issues
  • Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least eight (8) years of relevant hands-on IT experience in the area of data management including in the following areas:
    • Experience working in a Microsoft Azure Cloud environment and interoperable solutions
    • Experience in supporting a global, distributed corporate information systems
    • Experience designing/maintaining complex ETL solutions using Azure Data Factory, including expert knowledge of Transact-SQL, developing scripts using stored procedures with T-SQL as well as experience analyzing and troubleshooting Dax queries
    • Experience monitoring logs and collecting diagnostics data in the Azure environment
    • Experience designing/maintaining Azure Analysis Services / SSAS Tabular models
    • Experience as database administration, maintaining Azure SQL Database
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business needs
  • Experience designing Power BI reports

Desirable:

  • Experience working in non-MS cloud technologies
  • Experience in technical design
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting DAX queries

Education*:

Essential:

  •  Completion of Secondary Technical School or equivalent

Desirable:

  • First university degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Management, Information Systems, Information Science or a related quantitative field

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of Italian or Spanish is an advantage

Eligibility:

This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. A staff member subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):

  • Brindisi, Italy: EUR 34,160
  • Rome, Italy: EUR 47,605
  • Valencia, Spain: EUR 44,839
