Position Description

Background information:

UNICC requires a senior and experienced Technical Lead for the implementation and support for ongoing and new projects. The resource will collaborate with developers, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure the development of high-quality business application solutions.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The consultant will work under the direct supervision and guidance of Head – Digital Business Solutions Section (DDD). The consultant shall perform the following tasks and ensure completion of the following deliverables:

  • Implementation of business application systems including managing release and integration
  • Design major aspects of application architecture, including components such as user interface, middleware, and infrastructure
  • Evaluate existing information systems through gap analysis, developing viable alternative solutions and estimates by working closely with stakeholders and project teams to align product designs that enable the achievement of strategic outcomes
  • Design applications to follow specific architectural patterns to meet various industry functionalities and standards
  • Provide technical leadership, coordinate and support the development team in implementation, testing, and end user adoption on various projects
  • Monitor progress and goals as agreed with supervisory line
  • Mentor and guide developers on best practices and coding standards including performing design, code reviews, and unit testing
  • Identify risks and forming contingency plan
  • Prepare and review process documents, technical documentation, and SOPs
  • Collaborate with UNICC focal points, internal departments, vendors, and committees during various application delivery activities

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience, including at least five (5) years of experience in leading the development of high load containerized applications using Angular, NodeJS, Express, MySQL, Dynamo DB, Redis, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and deployed on AWS Cloud services
  • Experience working with global organizations and/or multinational companies
  • Excellent knowledge and expertise in applications development lifecycle, designing and implementing technical solutions and architecture
  • Experience with relevant development tools and specific application and system architecture, specifically with large cloud workloads deployments
  • Experience in managing the delivery of large sized complex projects; strong technical skills; good analytical skills; strong ability to understand complex business processes
  • Experience in conducting impact analysis, and supervision of system modifications
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues that involve software development, releases, bug fixes, etc.
  • Perform evaluation of code quality, value delivery progress, and identify areas of improvement
  • Expertise in providing strategic technical guidance to proactively improve the performance, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of customers’ solutions using industry best practices
  • Technologically savvy, demonstrating the ability to easily adapt to new and unfamiliar technologies, software, and systems
  • Strong experience in Agile methodologies

 Desirable:

  • Experience developing integrations and automation
  • Experience working with various CI/CD tools
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket
  • Relevant industry certifications

Education*:

Essential:

  • First university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security or related

Desirable:

  • Advanced university degree with focus in Information Technology

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required

Other Information

Compensation:

Fee will be based either on the National Officer salary scales or the Individual Consultancy band levels (for Headquarters)
