Digital Hub of Treasury Solutions Launch Event

GENEVA – 05 June 2025

The United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) is proud to have participated in the official launch of the Digital Hub of Treasury Solutions (DHoTS), a transformative platform enhancing treasury operations across the UN system. The announcement took place during the high-level event “Beyond Relief: Resilient Aid Systems for the Digital Era,” hosted at UNHCR headquarters in Geneva to explore innovative approaches to digital aid delivery.

The gathering convened experts from humanitarian, governmental, technological, and private sectors to examine how digital innovation is reshaping the future of humanitarian assistance. Discussions highlighted the transformative role of emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence and blockchain—in enhancing operational resilience and accountability. Switzerland’s strategic position as a centre for financial innovation and humanitarian fundraising was also underscored, with new avenues for collaboration emerging through the UN Financial Gateway.

A key highlight of the event was the official public launch of the DHoTS, a collaborative, cross-agency initiative designed to streamline financial flows and enhance operational efficiency. Since its inception under the leadership of UNDP and UNHCR, it has grown to serve over 13 UN agencies, including IOM and WMO. The solution processes over 100,000 monthly transactions across 115 countries and is already demonstrating significant gains in transparency, cost-effectiveness, and impact delivery. With nearly 1 million CHF in funding over two years from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), DHoTS is now scaling up by expanding to new agencies and enhancing its technology infrastructure.

“DHoTS enhances efficiency, effectiveness and security by enabling faster, more cost-effective connections to banks and fintech partners. The solution expands the UN system’s access to broader, higher-quality financial services, while strengthening controls to safeguard data and manage financial risks,” said Sameer Chauhan, UNICC Director. “The newly established Centre of Excellence for Payment Technology and Innovation at UNICC plays a leading role in shaping and scaling DHoTS—bringing together technology, strategy, and cross-agency collaboration to transform how payments are delivered across the UN system.”

As a trusted technology partner within the UN system, UNICC continues to deliver digital solutions that drive innovation, interoperability, and resilience in service of humanitarian and development operations. UNICC reaffirms its commitment to supporting system-wide digital transformation efforts that promote inclusion, efficiency, and long-term impact.
