UNICC is pleased to announce that the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), with headquarters in Geneva, has been accepted as a UNICC Partner Organization under the UN Secretariat umbrella. UNICC’s Business Relationship Manager for UNIDIR is Roberto Cruz.
With over 40 years of experience, UNIDIR is an autonomous institution within the United Nations that conducts independent research on disarmament and related problems, particularly international security issues.
UNICC will work with UNIDIR first on the development of a Biological Weapons Convention National Implementation database.
UNIDIR’s specialized focus on disarmament and arms control sets it apart from other think tanks. Its status within the United Nations system enables it to engage with and support Member State deliberations. UNIDIR’s role is to provide ideas and advice and to facilitate dialogue that can advance multilateral arms control and disarmament.
