The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.
Background information:
The Data Governance requires Data Governance Consultant with Business Intelligence (BI) expertise to enhance the team capabilities in delivering of Data Governance and Data Strategy projects.
The consultant will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Data Architects, Data Engineers, BI Engineers, Visualization Specialists, Business Analysts, DevOps/DataOps engineers, and Data Governance and Strategy experts. Together, the team designs and implements sustainable, high-impact data solutions using cutting-edge technologies, primarily serving the United Nations (UN) and International Organizations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Head, Data Governance and Strategy Unit (DDAS), within the Data and Artificial Intelligence Section (DDA) in the Digital Delivery Division (DD). The incumbent is expected to fulfill the following duties and deliverables:
- Capture requirements using structured techniques to uncover latent needs, validate their relevance, resolve conflicts, and support prioritization
- Ensure comprehensive coverage of all use cases, capture the as-is and to-be state with a strong focus on business processes
- Following DDAS best practices, conduct the gap analysis of existing information systems, propose viable solutions, and collaborate with the project team to align system designs with strategic goals
- Under guidance of the Head, DDAS, coordinate and support the data governance & strategy team during testing and facilitate end user adoption on various partner projects
- Contribute to the rollout of data management strategies and implementation projects by working with cross-domain business units to translate data-related business needs into centralized Data Governance solution(s)
- Design and implement tailored metamodels to support key governance elements such as Data Domains, Data Dictionaries, Business Glossaries, Business Terms, Data Lineage, Data Models, Roles and Responsibilities, and workflow-enabled processes. Work closely with Data Stewards & Data Owners, facilitate regular meetings with stewards and owners
- Prepare clear technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other relevant process documents
Recruitment Profile
Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
- At least four (4) years of experience working with Data Governance and Data Strategy frameworks and approaches (e.g., DMBOK, EDM DCAM, or EDM CDMC)
- Familiarity with the DAMA Maturity Assessment Framework
- Knowledge of data quality principles, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise/digital information assets
- Experience with data quality technologies
- Basic knowledge of data transformation plans, roadmaps and Master Data Management (MDM) methodologies.
- Exposure to data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data catalogues
- Capable of producing user stories, UML diagrams, report mock-ups, and other tools to validate requirements and inform design. Familiarity with IT project processes such as project management, change management, and system development lifecycle (SDLC). Able to converse freely on a range of application and data-oriented technical topics
- Solid understanding of data usage, value, and the importance of Data Governance in organizations. Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and conflict management skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Willingness to learn on the job and adapt to new challenges
- Strong practical knowledge of business analysis and project management frameworks
- Business Driven & Technologically Savvy
- Expertise in requirements elicitation and translating them into actionable insights. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in developing detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions for a business problem
Desirable:
- Experience working with UN organizations / International Organizations / NGOs / Public Sector
- Exposure to any of the following topics: Data Observability, Data Mesh, AI Data Governance
- Knowledge of Data Governance tooling, data management best practices and industry standards
Education:
Essential:
- First university degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology
Desirable:
- Any Microsoft or AWS certifications linked to Data Management
- Experience with any Data Governance tools (such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, MS Azure Purview, Atlas, Talend, Soda)
Languages:
- English: Expert knowledge is required

Compensation:
Fee will be based either on the National Officer salary scales or the Individual Consultancy band levels (for Headquarters)
