Position Description

Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this post is to provide support in the administration of the UNICC’s Platform Operations infrastructure as well as customer dedicated systems.
Objectives of the Programme:
The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Team Lead, Platform Operations team, and under the guidance of the Head, Infrastructure and Platform Operations Unit (OPBO) within the Operations Division (OP). The position will also be working in close collaboration with the Infrastructure, Platform, Networking, Data Center and Operations support teams. The incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Provide operational support in the administration of the UNICC’s Platform Services as well as UNICC’s customer dedicated systems, including but not limited to:
- Administration of Windows server environments
- Design, installation, and configuration of windows servers both on-premises and public cloud
- Support server OS and Application deployments
- Create and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation for sharing knowledge purposes and to address performance management issues
- Perform scheduled and ad-hoc patch management and OS deployments to ensure optimal system performance
- Implement and maintain solutions and technologies to address cybersecurity issues
- Perform assessments and audits of compliance against the OS security policies and standards for supported operating systems
- Improve and maintain monitoring, configuration management, and reporting functions to ensure continuity for service delivery
- Under guidance, interact with customers, management, and staff on a technical level, as required
- Act as a technical expert in Server systems administration and systems management
- Assist with the resolution of incidents and problems, service requests as per service level metrics and targets; escalate incidents to the appropriate technical support team as per escalation procedure
- Improve/update new systems and deployment plans
- Participate in the development/update of tools and scripts to improve the automation of the supported systems and increase efficiency
- Participate in the deployment of new projects for UNICC and customers
- Participate in service coverage arrangement such as standy-by duty services and other support coverage arrangements, if and when required
- The incumbent may be required to act as Officer-In-Charge of the Platform Operations team, during the absence of the team lead
- Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management
Recruitment Profile
Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating Windows and Linux Operating Systems and related services in complex heterogenous environments
- Strong understanding of SCCM with advanced knowledge of patch management and OS deployment
- Expert understanding of Windows server trends and best practices
- Expertise in securing systems, providing audit evidence, Cluster/HA, and standards implementation
- Working experience in PowerShell scripting and automation tools
- Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving
Desirable:
- Experience with cloud technologies
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audience
- Experience with service reporting and business analytics
- Good knowledge of ITIL service management methodology
Education*:
Essential:
- Successful completion of secondary school education or its equivalent, supplemented by specialized training in IT
Desirable:
- IT diploma
- Industry related certifications, such as ITIL, ISO20000, etc.
Languages:
- English: Expert knowledge is required
- Other language: Spanish, Intermediate knowledge is desirable

Eligibility:
This vacancy is open to UNICC staff only.
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. Compensation:
Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):
- Valencia, Spain: EUR 44,839
