Position Description

Then join the United Nations International Computing Centre in our Valencia office, and contribute to make systems more effective and efficient for our partners.

Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this post is to provide administration and maintenance support of the ICC Network and Security Infrastructure, which includes Global, local, and ICC Partner infrastructure services; and to participate in the projects involving networking activities.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of the Head, Unified Infrastructure Unit, the incumbent shall:

  • Work on the network, firewall, and application delivery control related incidents, service requests and projects.
  • Evaluate, propose and implement solutions to improve performance for ICC and customer organizations networks.
  • Gather clients’ requirements; prepare feasibility studies and technical proposals related to the development and implementation of new projects involving Internet, network connectivity and security. Participate in the elaboration of service delivery agreements.
  • Review new technologies and market trends in the area of Internet, networking, connectivity and security. Make recommendations for the enhancement of the existing infrastructure.
  • Perform regular review of the infrastructure and services. Propose and implement upgrades and fixes to enhance security and network services availability.
  • Liaise with suppliers and other service providers to deliver secure installation, setup and test of the infrastructure involving local and wide area network, including leased lines and Internet connections.
  • Contact and interact with client’s focal points and network and security representatives.
  • Prepare and update detailed documentation and operational procedures.
  • Provide “stand-by” services on demand or on rotation basis during weekends, holidays and outside of normal working hours.
  • Provide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management.

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five years of relevant hands-on experience working with Cisco Routers and Switches, Firewalls, VPN gateways, Application Delivery Controllers and Load Balancers.
  • Sound technical knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF and BGP, and MPLS protocols.
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot Checkpoint Firewall
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot Network Security devices such as Cisco ASA and Firepower.
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot Application Delivery Controllers and Load Balancers such as F5 BIG-IP and Citrix NETSCALER.
  • Ability to implement, configure and troubleshoot site-to-site VPN on different platforms (ASA, Cisco Router and Checkpoint firewalls). Ability to configure and troubleshoot Cisco FLEXVPN, DMVPN and Cisco VPN remote access services using AnyConnect.
  • Ability to implement, configure and troubleshoot Wireless Lan Controllers (WLAN) systems and access points
  • Experience in the use and configuration of network management and monitoring applications such as HP-NNMI and Cacti.
  • Ability to use LINUX and Windows operating systems, write automation scripts. Ability to perform network tools installation and troubleshooting on LINUX platforms.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with ability to prepare technical documentation and project proposals.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team of diverse skills and multicultural environment.

Desirable:

  • Basic skills to administer other non-Cisco equipment such as MAG-PULSE Juniper, Bluecat, Infoblox and RIVERBED appliances.
  • Basic skills to administer Cisco Unified Communications (Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Call Manager Express, ISR Voice gateways and Border Elements).
  • Basic skills to administer Cisco Telepresence gateways and Firewall Traversal technologies.

Education:

Essential:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Electrical engineering, mathematics, Telecommunications, or related field
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP routing and switching certifications
  • ITIL and ISO2000 Certifications

Desirable:

  • Prince 2 Certification
  • Attendance of Checkpoint Firewall related training courses and/or CCSA or CCSE certifications
  • Attendance of F5 related training courses
  • Attendance of Ethical Hacking or similar network security courses
  • Cisco CCNP Collaboration or equivalent certification
  • Cisco CCIE Routing and Switching – Written and Lab certifications

Languages:

Fluency in English is required.

Other Information

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate), including post adjustment (26.4% on May 2019): US$ 76,134.
