Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this post is to provide operational support in the administration and maintenance of the customer local systems as well as UNICC infrastructure.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Team Lead, Network Operations team, and under the guidance of the Head, Infrastructure and Platform Operations Unit within the Operations Division and in close collaboration with the Infrastructure, Platform, Networking and Data Center   Operations support teams.

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

Provide onsite operational support in the administration and maintenance of customer managed networking systems as well as the UNICC’s networking infrastructure, including but not limited to:

  • Provide Tier 2 network technical support at the customer’s premises, as required (different buildings, floors and data centers); Act as focal point and provide direct assistance and liaise with customer technical focal points as required.
  • Provide timely technical support to address and solve incidents and service requests related to networking components, security issues and connectivity problems between the customer, the Internet and UNICC, including telecom lines and related services; escalate problems to the appropriate technical support team as per escalation procedure.
  • Participate in new projects and deployment of new solutions for local customers including UNICC infrastructure, provide direct support capacity to conduct network assessment, project support, and other related activities. Participate in the customer organized meetings, evaluations and tests of new solutions on behalf of the customer, if required.
  • Participate in the incident management and request fulfilment across the UNICC infrastructure at the Tier 2, in collaboration with Tier 3 and other stakeholders, as applicable, while helping identify technical problems and propose solutions as a part of resolution management processes.
  • Coordinate, when necessary, with the different stakeholders including customers, vendors, providers as well as internal UNICC teams to ensure quick resolution of incidents.
  • Monitor, analyze and optimize the performances of the supported infrastructure and systems.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation, as needed.
  • Participate in the development/update of tools and scripts to improve the automation of the supported systems.
  • Participate in service coverage arrangement such as on-call duty services and other support coverage arrangements, if and when required.

Other:

  • Active collaboration with Tier 2 team leaders, Tier 3, Service Desk, Service Management team and other technical teams in UNICC to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • The incumbent may be required to act as Officer-In-Charge of the Unit, during the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Provide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management.

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise LAN, Data Center, Voice networks and WAN environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environment
  • Excellent experience in administering and troubleshooting different networking solutions and components (Firewalls, Cisco devices, Routers and switches, Checkpoint devices, VPNs and WIFI solutions)
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and networking routing protocols including OSPF, BGP
  • Good knowledge of MPLS routing
  • Ability to configure and provide support for load balancer solutions such as F5 and/or Citrix NetScaler’s Load Balancers and Application Delivery Controllers
  • Good understanding and knowledge of network management and monitoring tools
  • Working knowledge in shell scripting and automation tools
  • Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving
  • Good knowledge of service management methodology (i.e. ITIL, ISO2000, etc)

Desirable:

  • Experience with service reporting and business analytics

Education:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s equivalent university degree in any discipline but preferably in computer or telecommunication, mathematics or related field

 Desirable:

  • Industry related certifications

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Other language: French, Intermediate knowledge is desirable

Compensation:
Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):

  • Geneva, (Switzerland) including post adjustment (74.8% on January 2022): US$ 109,585
