Position Description

Objectives of the Programme:

The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent of this position will perform their duties from ICC premises located within the United Nations Logistic Base in Valencia. ICC premises include data centre facilities and office space provided to the ICC by the UN Department of Field Support (DFS) as stated in the MOU concluded between the UN, represented by DFS, and the ICC in July 2012.

Duties include:

  • Maintain and administer switches, routers, and IPBX in the supported ICT network and voice infrastructure.
  • Manage and support standard configurations and deployment of management and analysis tools.
  • Conduct testing and deployment of LAN/ WAN and Voice solutions as well as all development of technical documentation.
  • Assist with the resolution of incidents and problems related to LAN/WAN and Voice environment.
  • Be responsible for addressing and resolving service requests in support of other technical teams.
  • Participate in drafting an updating technical documentation.
  • Provide stand-by services, if and when required.
  • Performing other duties, as required.

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five (5) years of working experience in information technology or related area, including at least three years operating and maintaining LAN, WAN and VoIP in a large corporate environment.
  • Experience in drafting technical documents.
  • Proven knowledge in:
    • Datacentre Networks using Cisco Nexus Technologies.
    • Wide Area Network using routing and switching protocols such as BGP, MPLS; EIGRP, OSPF.
    • Network management tools and practices.
    • Content networking equipment including Server load balancer, content switching, caching and acceleration.
    • Network security including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention devices. Excellent knowledge in Cisco ASA and Checkpoint firewalls is required.
    • Voice and video over IP including voice transport, termination and related Quality of Services.
    • Voice switching services using Cisco Unified Communication technologies.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • ITIL service management methodology.
    • ISO 20000 Service management standards.
    • ISO 27001 Security Management standards.
    • Ability to grasp complex concepts, logical and analytical approach to solving problems.
    • Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Information Security Management System (ISMS: ISO 27001) and other related best practices and industry standards.
  • Data Center technologies such as Virtualization and Server blade technologies.
  • Cloud technologies such as migration, deployment and security within Multi-Cloud Environments.
  • Customer support, functional escalation and use of various incident and request tracking software.

Education:

Essential:

  • Graduation from secondary school supplemented by specialized training in IT.

Desirable:

  • ITIL v3 Foundation certificate.
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification.

Languages:

  • Good knowledge of English is required.
  • Knowledge of Spanish is desirable.

Eligibility:

This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. A staff member subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate): EUR 38,299.
