Position Description

Purpose of the Position:

The main purpose of the position is to provide UNICC with Outreach and Communications support. Objectives include strengthening internal and external communications (especially social and digital media), supporting brand identity, advocacy and marketing strategies, strategic partnerships and resource mobilization initiatives. Broadly working to raise the visibility of UNICC within the UN system, with member states, and with other strategic and prospective partners.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.

Main duties and responsibilities

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the

Head of Outreach and Strategic Partnerships (MSO), and with dotted line reporting to the Associate Communications Officer.

  • Provide technical support to the development and production for internal and external communication instruments and materials including with regard to conferences and events, stakeholder engagement, social media and video production
  • Assist in the design and delivery of social and digital communications products to strengthen UNICC visibility
  • Create high-quality video, infographics, pitch decks and presentations to strengthen UNICC brand identity
  • Assist the Outreach and Communications teams with other communications needs, including web content, report writing, resource mobilization campaigns, news gathering and publication in other venues
  • Research and synthesize best practices and lessons learned for effective communication as appropriate
  • Provide ad hoc support within the Communications team or in other teams as required. This may entail participation in special projects for short periods of time on either a part-time or full-time basis, upon request from the senior management

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

At least one (1) year of experience, including in the following areas:

  • Digital and social media experience, including developing and managing strategies and content
  • Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality communications materials, preferably at the intersection of UN affairs, international development, humanitarian relief and technology
  • Experience in creating content for digital platforms (websites and intranets), social media (Twitter, LinkedIn) and email marketing campaigns (Mailchimp)
  • Video editing experience (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, etc.) and graphic design expertise (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and partner with stakeholders across the organisation, including a demonstrated ability to work with technical teams

Desirable:

  • Experience working on technology-related matters within the UN system, NGOs or international organizations

Education:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, or related areas

 Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in any relevant area

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage

Other Information

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate): 

  • Brindisi (Italy), including post adjustment (20,9% on January 2023): US$ 46,574.
  • Rome (Italy), including post adjustment (26,6% on January 2023): US$ 48,770.
  • Valencia (Spain), including post adjustment (30,6% on January 2023): US$ 50,311.
