Consolidation of FAO Mainframe Operations at ICC Successfully Completed on 25 January 2004!
On 25 January 2004, ICC completed the transfer of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) mainframe operations from Rome to ICC’s data centre in Geneva.
The FAO mainframe applications run on a dedicated environment (IBM 9672 RB4). Applications include:
- Finance system (including Payroll)
- Personnel system
- Planning system
Subsequent projects, to start during 2004,include:
- The upgrade of FAO’s operating system to one that can run on ICC’s z800 shared mainframe
- The migration of FAO’s operations to the z800
- The upgrade of FAO’s operating system to ICC’s corporate standard
The completion of these projects will bring FAO Mainframe processing into the ICC Shared Mainframe Service, where greater economies of scale, and cost savings, can be realized.
