Data Centre
ControlRoom
Services provided by ICC in Geneva are hosted in a purpose-built Data Centre with state-of-the-art facilities. These include Category 6 structured cabling, electronic door access security system, closed circuit monitoring, uninterruptible power supply system and environmental control system.

Networking

The ICC Data Centre’s Local Area Network is supported by fully redundant, high-performance Cisco switches, capable of providing Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. This LAN is protected by fully-redundant Checkpoint Firewall-1 on Nokia appliance clusters and Network Appliance web cache proxies.

Connectivity

The ICC Data Centre is connected to various service providers including Swisscom, COLT, SITA and SiG. ICC provides high-speed connectivity to International Organizations in Geneva, New York, Rome and Paris. ICC is able to support various connectivity technologies, including long range Gigabit Ethernet, SDH/SONET, Frame Relay and Point-to-Point links.

Network Operations Centre

ICC’s Network Operations Centre (NOC) monitors the availability and performance of all services. The NOC is equipped with the latest equipment and tools for network and systems fault monitoring such as HP Openview, NetIQ and Dell OpenManage. Duty engineers are on call at all times to provide support to the NOC.

Security and Environment

The ICC's state-of-the-art Data Centre is protected by digital card access and a closed circuit camera system, which is monitored by the building security 7/24. The Data Centre itself has an environment management system including cooling and humidity control. Fire Protection System includes smoke detectors and temperature sensors on the ceiling and under the floorboards. Flood detectors are also installed under the floorboards. The 200kVA central Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system has full battery backup and power conditioning to prevent spikes and surges in the electrical power. There are also two diesel power generators as a standby electrical power source. The entire fire protection and power supply system are regularly tested as part of the building maintenance procedure to ensure reliability and availability.
