Position Description
Purpose of the Position

​The incumbent is responsible for design, implementation and support of Unified Communication services for ICC and its clients.

Objectives of the Programme
The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.
Summary of Assigned Duties

​Under the supervision of the Head, Messaging Services Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for design, implementation and support of Messaging and Collaboration services for ICC and its clients.  He/she will :

•   Install, configure and support Microsoft Lync and associated servers
 
•   Resolve incidents, implement problem resolutions
 
•   Handle requests for services related to the unified communications environment
 
•   Perform day-to-day housekeeping activities on the Lync and related  infrastructure

•   Deliver continuous service improvement through process improvements such as scripting of manual procedures and implementing self-service features to support delegation of service administration

•   Prepare technical documentation on the unified communications environment and related procedures and operations
 
•   Provide support of a large scale Lync 2010/2013 enterprise environments
 
•   Support the evolution of the messaging service through the design and implementation of new service features and infrastructure

•   Perform other duties as required
  
The incumbent may be requested to provide support during weekends, holidays or outside working hours as well as to serve as a "stand-by" officer on a rotation basis.

Functional Knowledge and Skills

​Essential:

•   Sound conceptual and hands-on knowledge of Unified Communications solutions based on Microsoft Lync, covering instant messaging audio-video, single sign-on solutions, federation and remote access

•   Sound conceptual and hands-on of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS and their integration with Microsoft Lync

•   Sound conceptual and hands-on knowledge of Windows Server administration

•   Sound conceptual and hands-on knowledge of scripting in C# and PowerShell

•   Troubleshooting skills

•   Knowledge of Hardware Load-Balancer and Firewall implementation for Microsoft Lync 

•   Knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture and networking (TCP/IP, etc.)

 

Desirable:

•   Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager
 
•   Knowledge of other Microsoft Windows Server technologies including Forefront, DPM, WUS, SQL Server, Lync
 
•   Knowledge of system deployment and management solutions such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
 
•   Knowledge of SQL administration and development, including Microsoft SQL Server
Education

​Essential:

•   University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field Microsoft Lync 2010/2013 certification

•   Microsoft Lync 2010/2013 certification (MCTS)

•   Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)

 

Desirable:

•   Microsoft Exchange certification

•   ITIL certification

•   PRINCE2 certification

Experience

​Essential:

•   Two to 3 years of IT work experience with at least 2 years’ experience in system administration of Microsoft Lync 2010/2013 servers

•   Experience in installation, configuration and support of multi-site Microsoft Lync environments offering high availability and disaster recovery

•   Two+ years’ experience of scripting Windows and Lync 2010/2013 system administration tasks

 

Desirable:

•   One+ year experience in administration of Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013
 
•   Experience of configuring and support Microsoft Lync 2010/2013 and IP telephony solutions
  
•   Sizing and design of Lync 2010/2013infrastructure

•   Experience integrating Lync 2010/2013 with other vendors telephony systems Experience in using and configuring enterprise monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure service availability
Languages

​•   Expert knowledge of English is required

•   Intermediate knowledge of French is desirable
