Position Description
Purpose of the Position

The incumbent of this post will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the ICC Network and Security Infrastructure in the ICC North America Data Centre (NADC), the ICC offices in New York and provide network, Firewall and VPN technical support for ICC services and projects globally

Objectives of the Programme
The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.
Summary of Assigned Duties

·         Participate in a global team to carry out approved projects.
·         Liaise with suppliers and the North America Data Centre service provider to deliver secure installation, setup and test of network and security devices, Secure Internet access and telecommunication circuits.
·         Provide technical and operational support and resolve technical problems for the Centre’s Network Infrastructure and Services.
·         Monitor and improve network usage; evaluate the performance of the network.
·         Gather clients’ requirements for new networking and security solutions and prepare feasibility studies and technical proposals for the development and implementation of networking and security systems in response to clients’ requests and requirements.
·         Review new technologies and market trends in the area of networking, security and telecommunications. Make recommendations for the installation of new equipment or enhancement of the existing infrastructure.
·         Perform regular security review of the Centre’s Network Infrastructure and Services. Propose and implement security fixes and solutions to enhance the security of Centre’s Network Infrastructure and Services.
·         Prepare detailed documentation and operational procedures.
·         Provide “stand-by” services on a rotation basis during weekends, holidays and outside of normal working hours.
·         Perform other duties as required.

Functional Knowledge and Skills

Essential:
  • Ability to manage, configure and troubleshoot Checkpoint Firewall
  • Ability to manage, configure and troubleshoot Cisco network devices such as switches, routers, load balancers, VPN gateways and firewalls
  • Ability to provide support and troubleshoot F5 physical and logical load balanced environments
  • Use network management applications such as HP-Open view NNM and Cisco Works
  • Design networks and setup WAN telecommunications
  • Sound technical knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Remote Access technologies
  • Ability to administer UNIX and MS-Windows operating systems and write scripts in UNIX shell, Perl, Java or  VB
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with ability to prepare technical documentation and project proposals

 

Education

Essential:
  • University degree in Computer Science, Electrical engineering, mathematics or related field
 
Desirable:
  • Attendance of Cisco router or switch related training courses
  • Attendance of Checkpoint Firewall related training courses

 

Experience

Essential:
  • Five or more years hands-on experience in managing installing, configuring network Firewalls with solid experience in Checkpoint and Cisco security technologies. Solid experience with IPSEC based VPN systems and SSLVPN remote access solutions. Solid experience installing and maintaining large Checkpoint Firewall installations.·        
  • Five or more years’ experience with telecommunications and networking with at least six years hands-on experience in managing and configuring Cisco networking devices.
  • Five years or more of experience working in a 7/24 Data Centre environment.
  • Five or more years’ experience in configuring and using enterprise network management applications such as HP Open View NNM and Cisco Works.
  • Experience with Disaster recovery planning and implementation.

 

Desirable:
  • Converged  (Ethernet and FC) network knowledge and experience
  • Experience with other non-Cisco products

 

Languages

Expert knowledge of English is required.
